Perfect for oily skin
I have SUPER oily skin and this primer mist is amazing. You just need to make sure your foundation is compatible with it. Keep in mind this particular primer is water based, therefore you need a foundation that is water based. Otherwise you will experience your foundation slide off, pill, look patchy, etc.
If your foundation is silicone based then this primer will not work.

I'm Making It Work
I have very oily skin and have been using Neutrogena products since high school -- that's just the way it is -- never really been a foundation type of girl so I can't really comment on "makeup running" or not staying in place. After trying so many other products, ranging from $5 to $50 with the higher priced maybe lasting a little longer, I decided on the ELF Oil Control Primer Mist. I prefer the natural look without all the additives in some products -- the cucumber extract and Vitamins B and E, water-based, it's the best combination for my skin to keep it looking healthy, natural, no breakouts, etc. What I do and what works for me is instead of spraying on the OC Primer Mist and waiting for it to dry, I spray and then massage it over my T-zone the same way I massage on my moisturizer, let it set for a few before applying my oil-absorbing Neutrogena translucent powder. It seems to be working just fine for me so far. Then when I use the Monochromatic Multi Stick, I usually spray my face brush with setting spray before I blend in the Stick color/translucent powder and I'm good to go -- all stays in place with light touch-ups for shine a few times throughout my day. In all my years it's been difficult to find a product that keeps away the shine for 8 hrs. or more -- I just decided to make what I have work better.

This ain’t it
I have such a huge beef with this product (& with ELF too). 1st I’ve watched the price of this creep up $3 whole dollars since it launched & ELF is sneaky about this because they only do that when there’s a love & demand for a product. They figure people will pay more if they truly like something, which is true but it also goes against what ELF supposedly stands for too. Not only that but this does NOTHING as far as oil control in the warmer months for me. So I don’t know what all the rave is about. They have a couple of oil control/mattifying lotions/serums that behave similarly. They give minimal results but not when it really counts. There’s so many products that have crept up in price & ELF is slowly but surely moving away from being that really awesomely priced brand because they’re no different from average drugstore prices. I’m becoming less & less of a fan of the brand despite the fact that I’ve been an avid ELF user since they launched almost 20 yrs ago.

Spray this primer mist from arm's length
I have combination skin with an oily T-zone and I was hoping this Oil Control Primer Mist would be the answer to my prayers. While the product itself is good and effective at keeping a matte look for 3 hours, I've found that the pumping mechanism could be more user friendly. The first time I sprayed this from the suggested 8-10 inches from my face, I felt like I was covered in a chalky mist and my face had white blotches all over it. Even after shaking the bottle vigorously, I had these uneven droplets on my skin. After experimenting with different spraying distances, I finally figured out that an arm's length (or about 20 inches) worked the best for me. I would get enough of the mist on my face but not be covered in white specks.

Disappointing
I had high hopes for this product but I am really disappointed. I do have very oily skin which usually breaks through within 30 minutes of applying make up. I applied the spray before applying my foundation and then after finishing my make-up as a setting spray. It did not have any sort of mattifying effect and was in fact very wet on application, so much so I had to use a hair dryer to dry my face. I would certainly not call it an oil control product, my face was just as shiny as it would have been if I hadn’t used it. I do like ELF products but this did not live up to the hype!

Good for setting makeup
This might be good as a primer for other people, but my acne medication makes my skin a bit dry so the oil control aspect isn't very useful for me. I do however like using it to set my makeup, and I find that I get better wear during the day when I use it. A little bit goes a long way!

Could i use this and then on top apply my elf poreless face primer
You could but I think it would be too heavy with both. What I like about this one is you don't feel like you have anything on your face but it works so well!
