A lip mask should definitely be part of your lip care routine. Lip masks are designed to hydrate and nourish your lips. They are typically thicker than hydrating lip balms or moisturisers and are used to provide deep hydration that can help to repair dry and chapped lips and improve their overall appearance and texture. They typically contain lip-softening ingredients like hyaluronic acid, and plant-based oils to help lock in moisture and promote soft, smooth, and lips.
Hydrating lip masks are usually meant to be left on your lips providing a more long-lasting effect than lip balms, which tend to absorb into your skin more quickly.
A lip mask and lip balm serve different purposes in your lip care. A lip balm is typically used throughout the day to moisturise and protect your lips from dryness. It provides a barrier and can help retain moisture. On the other hand, a lip mask is a more intensive treatment that is usually applied overnight to deeply nourish and repair your lips. It often contains richer and more concentrated ingredients to provide intense hydration. While both lip balm and lip mask contribute to your overall lip care, lip masks offer a more targeted and intense treatment.

1. Exfoliate: Start with exfoliating your lips by removing dry skin flakes. Gently apply an exfoliating lip scrub using it in small circular motions to buff away the dead skin and reveal smoother softer skin.
2. Hydrate: Since your lips are prone to dryness and chapping, apply a moisturising lip balm to keep them moisturised and help prevent dryness. If you are going out, you can even use a tinted lip balm that moisturises while adding a sheer wash of colour.
3. Nourish: As part of the last step in your lip care treatment, use a leave-on lip mask to deeply nourish your lips and soothe dryness. For extra conditioning, apply the lip mask to clean dry lips at night.
