Additional Information

Prime & Stay Finishing Powder is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 92.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good light coverage but it smells like my Grandma It gives a good light coverage and stops the shine and oil well but I can smell the talc. It smells like powder my Grandma would have worn. It's kind of hard to get past the smell.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Dark Enough The deepest dark that they have is not dark enough for my skin tone. It made my skin look white and ashy. Im sure the product works though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous Face Powder I wear this powder alone (in medium/dark), and it looks great. It offers no coverage; it is like tinted moisturizer in powder form. It evens out skin tone and mattifies the face without a dry-looking finish. I apply this by patting it on with the e.l.f. powder brush. I've had professional, high-def photos taken while wearing five layers of this, and it looked satiny and smooth. I have sweat in it, and it does not run. It does transfer easily, though. The packaging leaves a lot to be desired. The hinge is weak and prone to breaking, the logo wears off easily, and the plastic compact is easily scratched and scuffed. You can also find this shade in Target.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nice feel. No pigment. I am disappointed in the limited range of shades for this finishing powder. I purchased this Finishing powder in the colors medium/dark and dark a couple of months ago and was very unsatisfied. For only two dollars, I believe it fells very nice and smooth. However, the available colors are not dark skin friendly. They both actually showed up as the same color when swatched on paper and my skin (which was a lot lighter than both looked). I am a African American with a dark brown skin tone. This powder made my makeup look terrible. There is a flashback when you take pictures, and the overall look makes the product look chalky although it feels nice. ELF should really expand their shade ranges for some of their products. I wasn't expecting much for the price point, but I thought I would let others know what they may experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for contouring! I use the deep/Dark one for contouring! its the perfect colour to use to contour.. if you're more tanned use more (not more at once but build it gradually) and if you're more fair use less, just blend and use a light hand! i just ordered 10 more and have been using this to contour for probably 4 years now. I also use it as a shadow sometimes when I want to keep it natural looking since it matches my contour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for oily skin I've been using this every day for weeks and I have no regrets. It's a must have for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a great job This powder is great for setting light makeup, but I think its main virtue is how good it is at creating an even, matte finish to my skin. I have very dry skin because of an acne medication I'm taking, so I often have to spot-treat with some Aquaphor to stop my face from getting all flaky. Obviously, this makes areas of my skin weirdly shiny and oily-looking, but a quick dusting of this powder makes my face look perfectly even for hours. And at two dollars, it's an absolute steal.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Meh... Good quality for the price, but runs out very quickly. Also can create a "powder in the wrinkles" or "old grandma with too much makeup" effect. I don't think it made a difference on my face. Good for the price, though.

Looking for a setting powder - I don't want it to look cakey, just super lightweight, something to set my liquid foundation/concealer with. Do all translucent/sheer powders give flashback? Would the lightest shade of this powder give flashback?

Asked by: apriljoy
I have the lightest shade and is very cakey. It gets stuck in all of your creases. I don't really recommend this product.

Does the prime & stay finishing powder have to be lighter or the same shade as your foundation.

Asked by: McWhite72
Unless it's translucent it should be the same shade as your foundation. Hope this helps :)

I am 67 yrs old and currently use your translucent powder. If I use the Prime and Stay powder, will it make the lines in aging skin underneath my eyes look better? The translucent seems to accentuate them?

Asked by: Clem
Ive found that this powder does very little it will only set makeup you have on

same questions as others- but not when, but why is this not available? I have never seen this offered, and all reviewers have given it 5 stars- are these a test panel?

Asked by: chellee
This product is often sold out. I doubt elf anticipated how well it would sell. They are very savvy so I am betting that they will remedy the shortfall by increasing the amount of product that they make available. They have already expanded from one to four shades. Hope you are listening  elf..!

Is this powder truly too light for dark (NC50) skin? I ask because I like to be heavy-handed with my finishing powder.

Asked by: Loving ELF
I don't think your question was out of the ordinary. A lot of translucent powders leave a cast/Grey look on women of color!  So just because it's "translucent " doesn't mean it CAN'T LEAVE a unordinary finish on dark skin tones ..for the people that keep replying  (as says in description ) ! Just like the Cody airspun powder
