Rated 1 out of 5 by from SO CAKEY this powder goes on smooth and then within half an hour of wearing it, it feels like your face is covered in flour. it's so thick and unpleasant! doesn't keep foundation matte. DONT BUY THIS!! there are so many better loose powders out there that work better with similar price points.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The old one was better I bought this one when it was the old packaging and it was so good. But idk if they got a new formula because the old one didn’t leave flashback and the new one does. It also had much more product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great products but.. I purchased five items including this and just got it all in today. Was so excited to try everything and was more than pleased until I got a notice today of the sale going on and basically every item I ordered at full price is included in the sale today. Lol my luck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have dry skin and this is still amazing I have very dry skin. Like unbelievably, something is probably wrong with me dry. I drink tons of water, I use daily moisturizer and night cream, my face cleaner is basically lotion, and I remove my makeup with jojoba and sweet almond oil- oh, and I take vitamins 4 times a day. I've ALWAYS struggled with making my base look good because my skin sucks all the moisture out of every foundation I've ever tried and then I look very cakey and like I've got tons of fine lines- I've always been terrified of setting powder because my skin was always way too dry to use it. I recently started using e.l.f foundation and it is incredible. After using that, I realized my setting spray (UD all-nighter) wasn't doing a great job keeping the foundation on my nose and underneath where my glasses rest. Because the e.l.f foundation was such a game changer on my desert dry skin I figured why not give the e.l.f setting powder a try- and boy am I glad I did! This sets my foundation (and my eye makeup now that I've switched that to cream, too) so nicely. I don't get any creasing or fine lines (which I thought was impossible for me) and I don't have any noticeable flakiness on my skin anymore (which is SO counter-intuitive)! My foundation stays on my nose now and hardly transfers onto my glasses. I can really pile this on, too, and it actually makes my makeup look better when I use this generously. I apply it pretty liberally with the e.l.f powder brush and gently dust away the excess. It leaves my skin feeling velvety soft and smooth (I couldn't stop touching it the first few times I used this!), my makeup doesn't budge, and while this looks ghostly white for a few minutes after I apply it, the white color goes away pretty quickly as it sets the makeup and it does not have any flashback in photos from what I can tell. This stuff is amaaaaaaaaaazing! It does "floof" powder pretty unavoidably when you put the lid back on, but it's so easy to wipe the powder away that it's really no a big deal. I've also gotten this on black formal wear before (applying my makeup in the car) and all I had to do was pat the clothing down and it came right out. I tap the powder into the lid, swirl it around, give one or two hard taps on the side of the main container to shake the excess off, then apply liberally. I let it sit for a few seconds then dust away the excess with the same powder brush.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great to correct red in foundation I'm an African-American woman, medium complexion with very yellowish skin. All foundations I've found are too red. I used this yellow powder over primer and under my foundation (a combination of the medium/dark and dark/deep BB serums). It looked very pale and unnatural at first, but after using the medium shades in the elf dark contour palette as setting powder, the color actually matched my skin! I recently bought the mist & set product. That made everything even better! Without the mist & set, my normally oily skin looked too dry from all the powder. I'm ecstatic because I need to make a video, and now my makeup matches my skin, and my face matches my chest! I'm learning that how makeup is applied is as important as what products are used. I also found that my adult acne-prone skin is practically clear now that I'm using elf products. And I'm so glad they're vegan and cruelty free!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great setting pwdr! Idk why there are so many bad reviews on this powder. I use it everyday now to set my makeup. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the packaging. If you use it like it says in the cap it will get everywhere lol i make sure I use a big fluffy brush and blend it out really well. It does blur imperfections which is great. I am a light medium skin tone and I purchased sheer. I do have dry skin and it didn’t make it Cakey or anything. I do use a hydrating setting spray after this as well. I would recommend this! Oh and it definitely does NOT have sparkle. Like at all or a smell. So idk why people say it does. I am getting low so I will be ordering more!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nope. Don't do it... I purchased this HD Powder in the color yellow as an attempt to help color correct the red undertone in my foundation so that it would look even better on my skin tone (I am African American with a dark brown skin tone). This powder is VERY chalky. I did not find it to be soft and velvety at all (which can be expected for powder at this price point). The flash back was horrific. I truly barely used that much, and I still received so much flashback that I had to wash it off of my face because I looked like Casper the silly ghost. Lol. Seriously though, I would not suggest this to anyone because of the chalkiness. This is not meant for women of color at all. Trust me, do not set yourself up for failure like I did.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rip Off This used to come in a much bigger container for the same price...now you get half of what you used to get for the same price...rip off. Will be looking for something to replace this. Not happy with E.L.F. anymore...never have anything in stock. Not nearly the options you used to have in colors and products.

I am a medium brown mixed race lady, and I adore silica powders for their blurring and matifying properties. I do press into the t zone with my beauty blender - but lightly! Then dust around the rest of my face with a brush. Don't be heavy handed, a light dusting is all you need believe me. I use then use a real techniques setting brush to dust the powder under my eyes, around my nose crevices and on my oily eyelids too. This gets rid of any shine, but leaves the skin so smooth. I do my eyebrows, eyeshadow/liner afterwards, and this powder helps them to stay put. I find as the oils come through that they look natural, no tinted powder sitting in pores, no oxidisation and no changing foundation/concealer colour at all.

Say I put on BB cream and I look extra oily. Can using this product help get rid of the oily looking skin?

I have used this product for quite some time. I like the feel of my face and that it seems to absorb oil.  The problem is the glitter in the product. I’m not 15 and I don’t want the glitter. The sheer is so white that I don’t look healthy.

We suggest that you apply this sparingly and blend very well in a circular motion for all shades, and to avoid flashback (white), if you choose the Sheer shade.

What is the recommended way of setting the powder? I heard there's flashback but if you use it right there will not be any, so how would you apply this properly?

Asked by: saipy20
We suggest that you apply sparingly in a circular motion with a powder or kabuki brush and blend well.

Does this powder cause flashback? I've been looking for an affordable powder that doesn't and I'm hoping this is the one.

Asked by: mads060
When applied correctly and blended, this will not cause flashback.

When I use this product it flakes. I've used it over foundation and on bare skin, I applied it with the buff that comes with it, with a kabuki brush and I'm stunned at all the peeling and flakes I have to brush off my face. What's going on?

Asked by: aednyc
If you are using foundation or mousterizer that is oil based that would cause it to ball up.  Or if you use a setting spray before putting it on
